A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:

Welcome to Sunnyside Elementary! My name is Tim Bolander and am in my eleventh year as Principal at Sunnyside Elementary and in my 18th year with the district.

It has been a pleasure to serve as principal at Sunnyside over the last decade and watch the students grow up before my eyes. I have had many great opportunities with Burlington Community School District, but none greater than working at Sunnyside Elementary.  I am proud of our school and the staff at Sunnyside, I have never worked with a staff that is as committed to improving student achievement as this one.

I would like to invite each of you to share your thoughts, concerns, and ideas with us over the course of the school year. Working together is the greatest way to make a positive impact on a child’s learning experiences at school. We must work as a team to provide the best educational opportunities for your child.

Sincerely,

Tim Bolander

Mission

Inspiring and challenging students through diverse opportunities.

Vision

The Burlington Community School District strives to have a profoundly positive impact on each student’s adult quality of life brought about by the students’ individual and collective educational experience.

Exit Outcomes

The Burlington Community School District supports all students achieving skills and abilities to become productive citizens in the community in which they live. This includes academic goals, social competencies, employability skills, and technology skills. These skills are a guide for teachers and students in determining projects and areas of focus at various grade levels.
